Everyone, meet Paul! In this Q&A blog post, we'll learn more about the beekeeper behind MothFlower Apiary. Paul is the solopreneur behind all the delicious creations at MothFlower Apiary.
Paul, has been a beekeeper for almost ten years. While he makes mostly regularly honey he sometimes makes creamed honey or honey infused with lavender.
We are proud to say we bought our first bottle of honey from Paul in October 2022 and have been using his honey in our Goat Milk & Honey Bar and our Oatmeal and Honey Bar ever since!
If you have used either of the soaps that use Paul’s honey drop a comment at the end of this Q&A blog post to let him know how you much you liked them!

Q: What made you want to become a beekeeper?
A: I got into beekeeping after watching a documentary about bees. I had a garden at the time and thought “I can do that!” Now I’m too busy to keep a garden!

A: I’ve had up to 30 colonies of bees which is a lot for me. But right now I’m just managing 3 knowing we had a baby on the way I scaled down for a bit but I plan to build back up.
Q: How far do bees travel for nectar?
A: Bees can travel in a two mile radius from their hive to find nectar and pollen

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges as a beekeeper?
A: It’s hard to pick just one problem beekeepers face but one of the biggest challenges we have are varroa mites. A relatively new pest for honey bees that is responsible for the overwhelming majority of hive losses.
